Several Glen Oaks faculty honored

Glen Oaks Community College presented a number of faculty awards during its 47th graduation ceremony last week.
The Distinguished Alumni Award was given to Terry Conklin of Burr Oak. Conklin attended Glen Oaks, part-time, for several years, working his way through while playing baseball, golf and track. Conklin completed his bachelor’s degree at Grand Valley State University then began his career in education.
Fellows Awards were presented to David Smith and Ruth Perry, community members who have supported Glen Oaks, providing long-term dedication by serving on boards or advisory committees; showing community leadership and offering support through various donations.
The Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award went to Patricia Jesaitis. New this year, the award honors a part-time faculty member who demonstrates excellence in teaching and the value of education to students. Jesaitis has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English.
