William J. Slack, 51, of White Pigeon, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers, following a nine-month illness.
He was born Aug. 4, 1963, in Sturgis, a son of Robert W. and Imogene (Sample) Slack. He spent his early years in White Pigeon and was a graduate of White Pigeon High School in 1982. He was a resident of Kalamazoo for seven years, Charlotte, N.C., for 20 years and moved back to White Pigeon in 2013 to help care for his mother.
Self-employed as a building contractor in home renovation and interior remodeling, he also was a painter.
He enjoyed bowling, woodworking, antique shopping, Mopar cars, collecting Snoopy memorabilia and White Pigeon youth bowling.
He is survived by his mother, Imogene Slack of White Pigeon; a sister, Christine (Ray) Comeau of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; three brothers, Robert (Donita) Slack, Dan (Deb) Slack and David (Sandra Griffey) Slack, all of White Pigeon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Connie Baumann of Rock Hill, S.C. He was preceded in death by his father.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015, at his mother’s house on Fawn River Road.
Donations may be directed to a charity of choice. Farrand Funeral Home of White Pigeon is in charge of arrangements.
