Additional use for proposed senior center

An additional use for a proposed, senior center has prompted Sturgis city commission to seek new maintenance assurances from St. Joseph County.
County officials recently added a 1,100-square-foot adult day care space to the initial plan for the $2.6 million development, now called Community Enrichment Center. Plans show it added to the southwest corner of the proposed building that will be located near Doyle Community Center.
City Manager Michael Hughes said the city is concerned that additional traffic on the Thurston Woods Park access drive could obligate the city to future improvements to the drive if use is restricted due to Community Enrichment Center activities.
City commissioners authorized Hughes to negotiate an amendment to the long-term land lease agreement, obligating the county to share maintenance responsibility for the access drive.

  1. The county commission is taking the voters for a ride. Go to Klines resort and look at his club house that was built for a whole lot less and its beautifull.
