Bender recognized at her final commission meeting

Two weeks after she was recognized for giving her final annual report as county clerk, Pattie Bender was once again the center of attention Tuesday.
The 64-year-old Bender was saluted as Tuesday was the final county commission meeting before her June 30 retirement. The fanfare included a resolution in her honor, and gifts of a watch from the courthouse employees and a locket from the five-member commission.
The proclamation in Bender’s honor acknowledged her start date of May 26, 1970, and the date of June 6, 1991, when she took over the job of county clerk. It also noted Bender serving as register of deeds since 2013.
A retirement party for Bender is set for July 11, her 65th birthday.
