Commissioners received more information regarding Sturgis senior center

Clarity was shed on a number of issues over which some members of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners had reservations related to the Commission on Aging Enhancement Center.
The Sturgis facility was at the core of discussions during last week’s executive committee meeting.
All five county commissioners were present and were joined by Commission on Aging executive director Lynn Coursey, who was invited to attend following a commission work session Tuesday that concluded with a number of questions left unanswered.
Armed with several documents, Coursey methodically walked commissioners through the numerous pages. Particulars such as a staff-transition plan, activities, job descriptions, budget details, and a historical timeline for the Sturgis center were noted. The timeline dates to January 2009.
Commissioner Rick Shaffer, initially skeptical of the Sturgis Enhancement Center, said Coursey adequately addressed his concerns.
