Man dies following crash

A Kalamazoo man involved in a three-vehicle crash last week in Mendon Township has died.
A vehicle driven by Winton Bernier, 79, was in a collision on Prairie Corners Road at Nottawa Road. Authorities said Bernier was driving east on Prairie Corners and failed to stop at the Nottawa Road intersection.
A southbound truck on Nottawa Road, which has the right-of-way at the intersection, struck Bernier’s vehicle as it crossed into the roadway. The truck, driven by 30-year-old Lee Higgins of Centreville, ran into a vehicle on northbound Nottawa Road driven by Mendon resident Steven Kline, 56. Kline was waiting to turn west onto Prairie Corners Road, according to authorities.
Bernier was airlifted to a Kalamazoo Hospital, where he died a day later.
