Members of the Mendon Community Schools Board of Education agreed this week to hire Roger Rathburn on an interim basis for the 2015-16 academic year.
During its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, the board supported a motion that will bring aboard Rathburn to replace Rob Kuhlman. The Mendon board earlier this year voted 4-3 to not renew Kuhlman’s contract, a measure that ended Kuhlman’s role as dual superintendent of Mendon and Centreville schools.
Rathburn retired a year ago after an 18-year career with Three Rivers Community Schools.
According to terms of the proposed contract, Rathburn will be signed to work 130 days. The district is expected to pay Rathburn nearly $60,000 for his services over the 133-day period.
Rathburn turns 53 in August.
