Charge to be sought against SUV driver after fatal crash

Authorities say they plan to request a charge against an SUV driver after a motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in western Michigan.

Police say the motorcycle and a SUV collided at an intersection about 1:20 a.m. Sunday in Kalamazoo.

The SUV’s driver fled, leaving the SUV at the intersection. Police say 34-year-old motorcyclist Robert Vern Pueblo of Plainwell died at the scene.

Police say Tuesday they interviewed the SUV driver as well as a passenger, who also fled. Police plan to request a charge of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death against the SUV driver. If convicted, he could face five years behind bars.

This crash is under investigation. Police say they’re awaiting toxicology and autopsy results, which could take several weeks.  (AP)
