A 22-hour session to secure signatures for a Three Rivers Board of Education recall effort will continue through 8 o’clock tonight.
Members of TR Cares, which formed in the wake of the April dismissal of three district administrators, said the drive started at 9 a.m. Thursday at the corner of M-60 and Eighth Avenue.
Organizers have set a goal of securing at least 1,165 signatures on petitions to recall Waneta Truckey, Carl Barth and Mike Bosma. Nowicki said more than half the required number of signatures were secured Thursday alone.
County clerk Lindsay Oswald said the group has until July 31 to turn in petitions with the minimum number of valid signatures in order for the matter to appear before voters in November.
Members of TR Cares are opposed to the board’s April dismissal of athletic director Pete Anderson, dean of educational services Kevin Hamilton and middle school principal Bradley Coon.
In order to be considered valid, a signature has to be from a registered voter who lives in the Three Rivers Community Schools district.
