A pair of Centreville residents were in fair condition after being involved in a single-vehicle accident last week in downtown Centreville.
Centreville police said a pickup driven by 65-year-old Larry Back was heading west on West Main Street shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, when the vehicle left the roadway, crashed into street signs and brought down a power pole near Jane Street. The impact caused the truck to turn onto its side.
Police chief David Richmond said the driver and passenger Rebecca Back were extracted from the truck after a period of about two hours.
He said seatbelts were worn and alcohol is not a factor in the incident. The downed pole resulted in a temporary loss of power to a portion of the village.
