Two items pulled from commission agenda

Two items related to members of the Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services of St. Joseph County Board were pulled from Tuesday’s county commission meeting.
At the onset of the meeting, Commissioner Rick Shaffer requested the agenda be amended to not include potential action related to cause and removal of CMH board chair Barb Parker.
Shaffer also requested that “membership status” related to the CMHSAS board be taken off. Per his request, both matters were pulled.
A third item, Health Center grant-writing allocation, was deferred to the board’s August 4 meeting at the direction of commissioner Al Balog, serving as board chair in the absence of John Dobberteen.
After the meeting was adjourned, Shaffer said he contemplated the two agenda items on the way to the courthouse after attending a 25-minute special meeting staged by CMHSAS. During that short trip, he said it was in the best interest of all parties to delay action on the agenda items.
