A White Pigeon woman was found guilty of possession of marijuana following a trial in Cass County that concluded last week.
Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz said Stephanie Lewis, 18, who attended Constantine High School, will be sentenced Aug. 13, when she faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Lewis was arrested in Dowagiac in August 2014 after a sheriff’s deputy found alcohol and marijuana blunts inside the vehicle in which she was a passenger. Fitz said Lewis admitted to being the owner of the marijuana, but during trial she said they belonged to the driver.
After 25 minutes of deliberating, the jury found Lewis guilty as charged, Fitz said.
The 18 year old driver, an Edwardsburg resident at the time of the offense, pled guilty on last September to possession of marijuana in exchange for a dismissal of her open intoxicants charge. She received probation.
