$1 million bond set at arraignment

St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough offered praise to investigators involved in the arrest last week of Three Rivers shooting suspect Westley George.
McDonough stated in a media release that the situation “was difficult (but) handled professionally and without incident.”
McDonough also expressed his condolences and prayers to the family and friends of victim Eugene Jackson. The 24-year-old Jackson died following a confrontation with George at 6:20 p.m. Thursday in an alley east of South Main Street and north of Broadway Street
George, a 28-year-old Three Rivers resident, has been charged with open murder, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm. He was arraigned Friday.
Bond was set at $1 million. George is classified as a habitual offender, according to court documents.
