Charles Francis Rhodes, age 66, of Marcellus, MI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Borgess Medical Center. Charles was born in Three Rivers on December 27, 1948 the son of George L. and Esther J. (Boyer) Rhodes.
Charles was a long time resident of Three Rivers. He was a decorated veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War where he attained two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, and one Silver Star. Upon his discharge he was employed at the Kalamazoo Post office where he eventually retired from. He was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans, NRA, Southern Cross Americal Division, and the Marcellus V.F.W. Post # 4054. Charles was very proud of his service record and often volunteered his time to many charitable veteran ceremonies.
Charles was an avid sportsman who enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and boating. He cherished his time with his children and grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “P-Pa” and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Louise Rhodes.
Charles leaves to cherish his loving memory daughter, Jennifer (John) Abel of Three Rivers, son, Mark (Stephanie) Rhodes of Paw Paw, MI; brothers, Richard (Judy) Rhodes of Three Rivers and George Rhodes of Farmington Hills, MI; grandchildren, John, Amy, Jack, Gabriel, Isaac, Logan, Sydney, Travis, Taylor, and Saige.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Hohner Funeral Home with Rev. Brenda Deily officiating.
Memorial donations in memory of Charles may be directed to the Rhodes Family c/o of Mark Rhodes, D.A.V (Disabled American Veterans Buck Crosby Chapter of Kalamazoo, or the Marcellus V.F. W. Post # 4054. Envelopes available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
