Douglas Wayne Stauffer, age 62, of Three Rivers, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 while surrounded by his family. He was born on July 5, 1953 the son of the late Clarence and Frances (Schwartz) Stauffer, and was a lifetime resident of St. Joseph County. Doug graduated from Colon High School in 1972. He was a Journeyman Carpenter who worked for Miller-Davis for 11 years before establishing his own company known as Doug’s Custom Builders. He also operated C & B Pump Service of Leonidas for several years. Doug was a former Golden Gloves champion, and enjoyed hunting. He especially loved time spent with his family.
Doug was married to Diane Birch in Colon on June 30, 1973. She survives along with two children, Kirt (Carmel) Stauffer of Louisville, KY and Dawn (Shawn) Hickey of Fishers, IN; four very special grandchildren, Paige, Kendall, and Hudson Hickey, and Violet Grace Stauffer; eight siblings, Jesse (Debbie) Stauffer, Joyce Cerny, Luke (Marcia) Stauffer, Bonnie (Tim) Wirgaw, Jeannette (John) Martin, Joe (Lauren) Stauffer, Brian (Kari) Stauffer, and Monica (Chuck) Buckley; and by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel, 305 Rock River Ave., Three Rivers. Family and friends may gather for interment at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 in Leonidas Cemetery. Funeral services will follow at 12 Noon Wednesday at Riverside Church, 207 E. Michigan, Three Rivers with Pastor Paul Booko and Rev. Ramon Martinez of He Cares Ministries officiating. Fellowship will then be in the social room of the church.
