The Doyle Community Center is celebrating its 20-year anniversary in 2015, and the occasion is being marked with a public open house at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Sturgis site.
Director Mike Liston said Thursday, incidentally, is an important date in the history of the facility, as it opened Sept. 24 twenty years ago.
Liston said there will actually be two gatherings to commemorate the milestone. A by-invitation-only assembly will take place earlier in the evening to recognize the men and women who played a role in the creation of the Doyle Center – from its conception to its opening.
Liston, who has served as director since 2008, said the public celebration will commence at 6 o’clock.
Thursday’s public open house will afford the opportunity to shoot some baskets, walk or run some laps, test out some weights and take some swings with a tennis racket. Liston said he is especially excited to show off $40,000 in new weight equipment.
