Lyle D. Manning, age 94, of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015.
He was born February 16, 1921 near Marcellus, the son of Lee Owen and Cecile Delilah (Harmon) Manning. On October 1, 1944 he married Mildred H. Hartman who preceded him in death in 2005.
Lyle graduated from Marcellus High School in 1939. He was engaged in farming all his life in Porter Township in Cass County and was a member of the Farm Bureau and Newberg Norton Bible Church. Lyle also won Farmer of the Year from Michigan State University. He and his wife Mildred enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively all over the world.
He is survived by three daughters, Delilah (John) Hoard of Kalamazoo, MI, Phyllis (Lynn) Howe of Vandalia and Mary (John) Danzy of Marcellus; one son, Gary (Carol) Manning of Vandalia; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Shavehead Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Newberg-Norton Bible Church.
