White Pigeon Township’s board of trustees Tuesday unanimously supported the establishment of a pet cemetery.
Designated for the northwest corner of White Pigeon Township Cemetery on Vermont Avenue, the pet cemetery portion will have a capacity of 1,040 gravesites.
Jean Tefft, township office coordinator, said the cemetery will be open to anyone, not just the pets of White Pigeon Township residents.
A site will cost $225 for non-township residents and $175 for White Pigeon Township residents. A full burial will cost $175 and cremation burial $125. Both figures are regardless of residency.
After appealing to the public for a name, township officials settled on “The Pet Memorial of the Wade Addition.”
