County extends auditing contract

St. Joseph County’s board of commissioners last week agreed to extend its auditing services for one year with a Jackson-based firm.
The county and Rehmann Robson concluded a three-year contract with the company’s performance of the county’s 2014 audit. County administrator Pat Yoder said finance director Joni Smith recommended the county renew its contract with the company for one year and allow it to conduct the 2015 audit.
Yoder said there have been some rule changes, meaning some of the qualifications under the audit are new. Because the county has a working history with Rehmann Robson, Yoder said he was comfortable suggesting the county extend the agreement one more year then go out for competitive bid in 2016.
The renewal comes at a cost of $31,800.
