Ernest A. Etter, 61, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Marcellus and Three Rivers, passed away at home.
He was born May 6, 1954 in Three Rivers the son of Lyle L. and Jessie Rose (Noyes) Etter. In December of 1973 he married Ruth M. Doyle who preceded him in death in 2006.
Ernest was pleased to have been a rare L.V.A.D Patient after nine years of congestive heart failure. During his life he overcame many other health obstacles including three bouts with cancer. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time on his 70 acres of woods (the farm) near Three Rivers. Ernest and Ruth loved going to the Indy 500 time trials for many years and they also enjoyed spontaneous road trips together along with local High School football games and going to the MHSAA State Football Playoffs every Thanksgiving weekend. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to the fair, the movies and football games and taking his Mustang on trips.
He is survived by three daughters, Tamey (AJ) Scoggin of Marcellus, Rita (Doug) Homuth of Carpentersville, Ill. and Cindie (Joshua) Adams of Marcellus; one sister, Elouise Barnett of Kathleen, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 in the funeral home.
