First burial at White Pigeon Pet Cemetery

A Three Rivers couple was the first to take advantage of the White Pigeon Township Pet Cemetery.

Chico, a chihuahua belonging to William and Deb Arnold, was buried Tuesday in the newly created pet section.

When Chico died in January, his remains were preserved until the Arnolds learned about the new pet section at White Pigeon Township Cemetery, which was approved Sept. 1 by the township board.

The family stood by while Chico’s casket was lowered by Dan Czajowski, director of Farrand Funeral Home, and Rick Steiner, a cemetery assistant.

The casket was made of high-quality polymer plastic.

Cost for the burial was about $650, plus the price of a marker.
