A fundraiser for a Constantine native injured in an alumni football contest more than three months ago will take place Saturday.
The four-hour event will benefit Robert Roll, a 2003 Constantine graduate. He is paralyzed after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit during the July 3 exhibition.
Classmate Scott Sampson said the key raffle item is an overhauled 1995 Harley Davidson Sportster 883. Tickets for the motorcycle raffle are $20 each. Dozens of other items are being given away through a raffle for which tickets are $10.
Organizers are hoping to eventually raise enough money to buy Roll a house – either new or refurbished – that will accommodate his compromised mobility as he raises his 2-year-old daughter.
Any additional donations for Saturday’s event can be made through the Austin Cooper Farm Bureau Agency on Washington Street in downtown Constantine. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the same location or at the fundraiser.
The event starts at 4 p.m at Constantine High School. A meal including hot dogs or brats begins at 5 p.m. and costs $5 for adults, $2 for kids. The raffle starts at 6 o’clock.
An updated list of $10 raffle items can be found on Facebook at “Rollstrong: The Journey to Recovery.”
