Three Rivers Health has introduced a new kiosk to improve the registration process for patients arriving for unscheduled outpatient testing.
Hospital officials said the kiosk is a patient-queue system. When patients enter the hospital for outpatient testing, they can check into the kiosks then wait for their telephone’s last four digits to appear on two television screens in the lobby. A chime will sound and the screens will direct the patient to a particular booth.
The process has been revamped from the days when outpatient patients would wait in line with emergency department patients at the front desk.
Three Rivers Health officials said the goal is to streamline outpatient testing and emergency department wait times, improve safety of emergency patients and eliminate the need to stand in line.
