A small-town holiday tradition returns this evening.
Christmas in Colon takes place five to eight o’clock with a variety of events capped by a visit from Santa.
Sponsored by the Colon Area Chamber of Commerce, Christmas in Colon includes a parade starting at 6 p.m. from Colon Elementary School to the community park.
In all, 24 businesses will be open and have special events, food and drink, and other activities during the three-hour window. Among the highlights: a chili cook-off at the American Legion, Colon Garden Club’s Santa’s Workshop at the library, free Santa hats at Five Star Pizza, Matchbox cars and chicken noodle soup at Hemel Chevrolet, pulled-pork sandwiches at Magic City Hardware and a sing-along throughout the evening at Sterlini Magic.
