Mendon Community Schools made a minor personnel move during the district’s board of education meeting last week.
Board members approved changing the employment status of Pan Cook from part-time kindergarten aide to full-time second-grade aide for the balance of the school year. Mendon alumna and Kalamazoo Valley Community College student Jenna Griffith was subsequently hired as a part-time kindergarten aide, also for the remainder of the academic year.
Interim Superintendent Roger Rathburn said Cook’s services are needed in a second-grade classroom, in which many students are familiar with her from when they were in kindergarten and she was a paraprofessional.
The moves will have an impact of about $18,000 on the district’s budget, Rathburn said.
The district also agreed to hire Caleb Stephenson as coach of the resurrected middle school wrestling team.
