Nilsa Alvarez, age 50, of Three Rivers, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico on May 22, 1965 the daughter of Raphael Alvarez and Maria Rosario. Nilsa was a homemaker and has been a resident of Three Rivers for five years, coming from Massachusetts. She attended the Faith Tabernacle Church, enjoyed drawing and making craft items, and will be remembered for her sense of humor.
Nilsa is survived by her mother, Maria Rosario; her companion, Reynaldo Mata; five children, Emmanuel Rodriguez and Nicole Navarro of Three Rivers, Tricia Rodriguez, Martika Ayala and Stephanie Ayala all of New Britain, CT; several grandchildren; eight siblings, Lillian, Raphael, Javier, Jorge, and Magalis Alvarez, Frances Rauls, Luis Colon’, and Alma Penn; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Raphael Alvarez and a son, Carlos Rodriguez.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 PM Saturday Jan. 23, 2016 at Faith Tabernacle Church, 205 N. Main Street, Three Rivers. Funeral services will begin at 1 PM Saturday at the Church with Pastor Randy Geans officiating. Cremation will follow services. Memorials will be directed to the family to help with expenses.
