Seven county residents graduated this week from the Swift and Sure Sanctions Probation Program, while other participants were promoted to the next phase of the program.
Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman, who oversaw the ceremony, called Tuesday’s event a big day for the Swift and Sure program and for the graduates.
As each graduate stepped up to receive their achievement award, Stutesman spoke briefly about their criminal history. Barbara Howes, program coordinator, then gave a pre- and post- program assessment of each graduate.
Many of the graduates reported now having steady employment, safe and sober independent living and improved family relationships. Some planned to go to college and some want to help other people overcome substance abuse.
