Sturgis approves site plan for property

The Sturgis Township Planning Commission has approved a site plan that will allow a refuse disposal company to lease part of its former Carter Lumber Company property to a local towing service.
Nissley Disposal of Burr Oak received township approval in June to move its operation to the former lumberyard site, off M-66. That approval will allow Nissley to store and maintain its refuse-hauling vehicles there and establish a transfer station for its roll-off dumpsters.
Monday’s action will allow Sturgis Towing to use part of the site to store up to 100 vehicles for police impound and insurance processing.
Nissley’s operation has not moved to the Sturgis-area location yet, pending site modifications.
