Man arrested after fleeing police

State police arrested an Inkster man last weekend after he fled from authorities just north of Park Township.
The incident occurred after a motorist was reported speeding and passing vehicles on the shoulder of U.S. 131 around 11:30 a.m. Sunday north of Three Rivers.
A trooper who was conducting a separate traffic stop near the Kalamazoo County line witnessed the suspect vehicle pass at a high rate of speed.
The trooper followed the suspect into Kalamazoo County and initiated a traffic stop near XY Avenue.
During the traffic stop and while officers were standing next to the vehicle trying to communicate with the driver, he accelerated back onto U.S. 131 in an attempt to flee. A pursuit ensued for approximately a mile and ended just south of Schoolcraft city limits. The suspect refused to get out of the vehicle and had to be physically removed.
Approximately one pound of marijuana was found in the vehicle.
The 34-year-old driver was taken to the Kalamazoo County jail and faces a number of charges, according to authorities.
