The project to bring sanitary sewer and water service to a county park in Fawn River Township moved another step forward last week.
During Tuesday’s county commission meeting, commissioners approved Elkhart-based Jones Petrie Rafinski for engineering-related services centering on extending the utility services to all 43 campsites at Cade Lake Park and Campground.
As part of its work, Jones Petrie Rafinski will investigate whether upgrades to the existing well or a water-filtration system will be necessary in order to increase water quality.
According to a memo from the company, the scope of services will include a field survey of all other existing utilities, a preliminary design, the acquisition of permits from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency, final design, concluding with project construction bidding and construction administration.
The estimated cost for the company’s services is $33,600.
The sewer infrastructure for the park is possible thanks to an existing line servicing the village of Burr Oak.
