Robert Lee Flowers, age 66, of Three Rivers passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Spectrum Health of Grand Rapids. He was born in Sturgis, MI on March 11, 1949 the son of Robert R. and Edna (Cain) Flowers.
Robert was a 1968 graduate of Centreville High School where he excelled in football. He was employed at General Motors and was then drafted into the U.S. Army where he served during the Vietnam War. While serving in the military he received a Purple Heart. Upon his honorable discharge, Robert came back to work at General Motors/American Axle where he retired after over thirty years of service.
On March 12, 1999 he was united in marriage to Michelle L. Gimbert. He was an avid fisherman and competed in many bass tournaments. Robert was a dedicated Chevrolet enthusiast whom enjoyed racing and restoring cars where he made many lasting friendships. Robert loved spending time with family and friends and was also a foster grandfather to many children as well.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory wife, Michelle L. Flowers of Three Rivers; mother, Edna Bowen of Coldwater, daughter, Amy (Jeff) Jones of Three Rivers; son, David R. (Emily) Flowers of Mattawan, Mi; sister, Dawn Heisler; brother, Warren(Jenny) Flowers; grandchildren, Joshua, Chase, and Hadley Jones; mother-in-law, Zoan Gimbert; sister -in-laws, Sandy Bowen and Sheree Rudy; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his fathers, Robert R. Flowers and Robert H. Bowen; one brother, Dale Bowen.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Hohner Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Anderson officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted under the suspices of the American Legion Post #170.
Memorial donations may be directed to V.F.W. Post #3019 of Three Rivers or Make a Wish Foundation. Envelopes available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
