Two men in separate incidents fell through ice on lakes in Cass County over the weekend.
Cass County Sheriff Joe Underwood said the first incident was reported at 1:39 p.m. Saturday at Bogart Lake in Jones, where a man fell through the ice but managed to crawl out of the water and reach shore.
He refused assistance and was taken home by friends prior to emergency personnel arriving.
The second call came less than an hour later. At 2:25 p.m., a man fell through ice at Juno Lake in Edwardsburg. He was pulled from the water by another fisherman and refused assistance. It is unknown if he was taken home by friends or drove himself.
Underwood is advising people stay off area lakes in light of the weekend’s warm weather.
