Volunteers distribute dog food to area rescues

Volunteers from Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan coordinated a dog food distribution that netted about 22,000 pounds of food last month in Sturgis.
The food was provided through a cooperative effort with Paws Illinois NFP, based in Bridgeview, Ill.
NFP has partnered with Natural Balance Pet Foods to support shelters and rescue groups with pets in need of quality, low-price food.
Some of the rescues that participated in the distribution were La-Grange Ark Animal Sanctuary, The Devoted Barn, Erin’s Angles, Animal Aid of Branch County, Bullmastiff Rescuers Inc., Nature’s Way Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc., and Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan.
The 22,000 pounds of food were distributed to the non-profit organizations.
Individuals who helped make the event possible included a volunteer with Refurbished Pets of Southwestern Michigan, and a truck driver who donated his time and the use of his semi- tractor to transport the load.
