Alyn E. Davis, age 85, of Mendon, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Mendon on Oct. 18, 1930 the son of the late Walter E. and Vivian (Robinson) Davis. Alyn was married to Shirley M. Smith in May of 1956 while in Las Vegas. They returned to Mendon in 1963, coming from Riverside, California. Alyn was a self-employed house painter who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and vegetable gardening. He handcrafted his own fishing rods and lures, and especially enjoyed hosting the family fish-fry. He was also a member of the Three Rivers Eagles Lodge #2303.
Alyn is survived by his wife, Shirley of Kalamazoo; two daughters, Cheryl Carlson-Kline of Three Rivers and Karen (Bill Enos) Bryant of Kalamazoo; two sons, Alyn Earl (Gail) Davis of Shorewood, IL and Bradley (Carolyn) Davis of Omaha, NE; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glenn (Jean) Davis of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Clinton.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. Interment of ashes will take place in Mendon Cemetery later this Spring, and will be announced by the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.eickhofffuneralhome.com
