Carls running for District 3 county commission seat

A Florence Township man who came up short in his bid for the county’s board of commissioners two years ago, announced he will try again.
Tim Carls, a 55-year-old, full-time farmer, will run as a Democrat in the primary election Aug. 2. If he is unopposed in the primary, Carls will be a candidate in November’s general election.
Carls is seeking the District 3 seat currently occupied by Rick Shaffer, who has announced he will not seek re-election. The district comprises Lockport, Nottawa, Florence and Sherman townships
Dennis Allen already has also announced his candidacy for the seat, though he is running as a Republican.
