A memorandum of understanding with the city of Three Rivers was approved this week by the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners.
The matter centers on shared maintenance of a proposed non-motorized pedestrian trail from South Health Parkway in Three Rivers to Meyer Broadway Park in Fabius Township.
Specifically, the agreement calls for each entity to address litter, weed control, shrub trimming and all repairs on and along their respective portions of the trail.
Furthermore, the task of seal coating will be performed in a five- to 10-year cycle.
Disputes or concerns regarding the agreement are to be discussed between the city and the county’s parks and recreation department.
The agreement was established in order to strengthen the city’s effort to secure grant funding for the proposed project.
