Lyle Motter, 81

Lyle E. Motter, age 81, of Sherwood, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Bronson of Battle Creek Hospital.
Lyle was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Leonidas, a son to the late Roy and Grace I. (Birkley) Motter.
He had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
On Feb. 6, 1956, he married Shirley L. Batterson in Angola, Ind. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2009.
Lyle had made his home in Sherwood since 1976 coming from Leonidas. He had worked as a truck driver for Ford Motor Company and later had hauled campers for Vanguard Industries in Colon.
He is survived by three children, Kandy Motter of Sherwood, Michael Motter of Three Rivers and Mark (Kit) Motter of Sherwood; two grandchildren Sam and Alissa Oesch; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. from the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Lyle E. Motter will be Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Rev. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Cemetery in Sherwood, Mich.
