Maxine McLaughlin, age 80, of Leonidas, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers. She was born in Colon Township on March 26, 1936 the daughter of Frank and June (Bower) Williams. She was raised by her paternal grandmother, and later by her aunt and uncle, Emory and Pearl Kuder. Maxine graduated from Battle Creek High School and later from Wright’s Beauty Academy. She was first married to Lloyd Hart on July 7, 1957, and they were later divorced. For 35 years Maxine was the proprietor of Hair Art in downtown Mendon. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and stamping. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Maxine was married to Clyde “Buzz” McLaughlin in November of 1980 at the Leonidas Bible Church. Buzz survives along with two children, Jim (Shirel) Hart and Debra (John) Johnson both of Mendon; step-daughter, Penny (Steve) Hartman and step-son, Scott McLaughlin both of Sturgis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her birth parents; her grandma Williams; Emory and Pearl Kuder; brothers, Leroy and Arthur William; and sister, Dorothy Shane.
Cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home with Rev. David Farrell officiating.
