A quote for work related to the development of a septic system and restroom at Nottawa Park at Sand Lake was awarded last week by the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners.
County administrator Pat Yoder said a $12,000 quote was received from Jones Petrie Rafinski of Elkhart for engineering services to complete the project and ready it for construction.
According to a memo from JPR to parks and recreation director Jaymes MacDonald, the company will secure at least three construction quotes for the assembly of the septic system. County commissioners have already accepted a $16,800 from Colon-based Detweiler Excavating to complete the installation process.
JPR will also provide construction administration and a part-time inspection for the project. It expects the work to take about two weeks.
Regarding the restroom, JPR said it will develop an overall site plan for the structure so that appropriate utilities, layout and concrete work can be coordinated for construction.
Its officials, who agreed to facilitate project bidding and ultimately recommend a contractor, estimated the task will take three weeks to complete.
