Vera Young, 89

Mrs. Vera May Young, age 89, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Riverview Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 8, 1926 in Three Rivers, MI. the daughter of the late Ray and Marie (Spooner) Fitch.

Mrs. Young has been a lifetime resident of Three Rivers. Following graduation from Three Rivers High School Vera was employed at Miller’s Dairy for almost ten years. She briefly worked for Stewart Coach in Indiana before driving bus for the Three Rivers School District for almost twenty years before retiring.

Vera was a religious and faithful member of the Moorepark Community Church. She was active in the St. Joseph County 4-H, Past member of the Three Rivers Eagles #2303, the American Legion Auxiliary, the “Prime Timers” Bible Study group and truly loved bowling on many leagues and traveling with the Horizon’s Group for many years. Vera will forever be remembered for her great sense of humor and love of friends and family.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; four brothers, Raymond, Dale, Richard, and Donald Fitch; one sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Charles Kline and one sister-in- law, Martha Fitch.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, one son, David (Jody) Young, and their children, Chase and Abby Young, all of Vicksburg, MI; sister- in -law, Doris Fitch; many nieces and nephews and many close friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Hohner Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Stilwell officiating. Cremation will be conducted following services.
