Members of the St. Joseph County Animal Control Advisory Board made strides Wednesday toward planning an inaugural fundraiser event set to take place next month.
Pending approval from the county’s board of commissioners Tuesday, animal control board members will host the fundraiser 6 to 10 p.m. May 13 at the Sturgis Elks.
Board chair Emily Frohriep said the idea of a fundraiser was discussed by members last month and has gained momentum since. Wednesday’s meeting provided members an opportunity to iron out details and cover specifics related to the event.
Details covered Wednesday included strategies to promote the fundraiser through local and social media, whether to establish a $10-per-person charge or make admission by donation only, securing sponsorship for food and prizes, fundraising activities to stage during the event, decorations and several other details.
