Commissioners to discuss CMHSAS Board

The validity of the Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services of St. Joseph County Board could become a topic of discussion by county commissioners this week.
Commissioner Robin Baker inquired during Wednesday’s county commission executive committee meeting about interviews with prospective new members and reappointments of three current members.
Baker said applicants to the CMHSAS Board need to be interviewed and reappointments done as well.
Baker said the board would not be able to have a quorum to do business if the appointments and renewals were not done by Thursday next week.
The matter is likely to be raised during Tuesday’s county commission meeting.
The terms of members Rebecca Black, Janell Hart and Gaylene Adams expired Thursday. Black and Adams have been on the board for nine years, Hart joined in September 2013.
