County commission keeps sports complex moving forward

Opponents of the location for a proposed Three Rivers sports complex addressed members of the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners Tuesday.
Despite the concerns, members of the commission approved a resolution to keep the multi-field sports complex development moving forward.
Commission chair Allen Balog said much of the opposition brought up at the meeting was about location. Balog, however, said the commission did not pick the spot.
Balog said the commission has not played a role into where the sports complex would be, other than it will be in the Three Rivers area. He added that the commission left it to the city to determine where its officials felt was the best location.”
The proposed 17-field sports complex is set to be located at the north end of Three Rivers between North Main Street and Buckhorn Road.
