Gladys M. (White) Shank Bohm, age 92, of Centreville, died on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born April 25, 1924 in Constantine a daughter of Raymond and Arzilla (Allen) White. She graduated from White Pigeon High School in 1942. Gladys worked for Scoville Manufacturing and Wade Electric during WW II making submarine explosives and hand grenades. She later worked at Transogram toy factory in Sturgis, various trailer factories and operated her own cleaning business for Dr. Frew’s office and several homes. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and yard as well as baking.
Surviving are her son Jack (Cindy Conklin) Shank, Centreville, brother Raymond “Jr.” White, Parkville, sister in law Ellen White, grandchildren Paul (Wendy), John and James, 17 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Paul Shank and Floyd Bohm, daughter Paulette Gardner, 2 brothers Carl and Charles, and a sister Eunice.
Cremation has taken place. Family and close friends of Gladys are invited to stop by her home Sunday, May 1 from 2 – 5 pm. Interment of Ashes will take place at a later date in Prairie River Cemetery, Centreville. Memorial contributions may be directed to Meals on Wheels or Centreville Methodist Church Community Meal.
