Kenneth D. Moffett, 88, of Sturgis Township, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Centreville.
He was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Mongo, Ind., a son of William and Myrtle (Fair) Moffett.
He had been a Sturgis-area resident for the past 38 years, coming from the White Pigeon area. He was a farmer all his life and custodian at Wall School in Sturgis for 17 1/2 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in White Pigeon. He enjoyed playing the spoons and banjo in his own band. He was a repairman, bowler, card player and fisherman, and he made wind chimes.
On April 7, 1951, he married Patsy A. Wooster in Orland, Ind. She survives, along with three daughters, Jean (Joe) Cudowski of Elkhart, Ind., and Nancy Kimes and Diane Heitger, both of Sturgis; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Moffett; a grandson; a sister; and two brothers.
Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Steve Kaszar of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Orland, Ind.
