An online application portal is back open for Michigan homeowners seeking help due to unemployment or another hardship.
The Michigan State Housing Development Authority says Step Forward Michigan on Sunday reopened the portal, which had been closed to new applicants since Dec. 31. The effort is for aid through the Michigan Homeowner Assistance Nonprofit Housing Corp.
In the first three days since it reopened, the state says 425 applications were started.
Michigan now has $18.6 million in new funding from the U.S. Department of Treasury under its Hardest Hit Fund that’s earmarked for reducing foreclosure. That’s part of $74.5 million in funding that includes money for Detroit and Flint to combat blight. (AP)
