Wava Heath, 91

Wava M. Heath, age 91, of Mendon, died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Medi-Lodge of Portage. She was born in Leonidas on Oct. 18, 1924 the daughter of John and Frances (Etheridge) Purdy and attended country schools. She was married to Harry E. Heath on June 20, 1945 and she has resided in Mendon since 1950. Wava worked at the Mendon Company in the ’50s and retired from Lear Sigler Inc. after working there for almost 20 years. She enjoyed travelling, especially to the cabin up north. She also enjoyed bird watching, bingo, and time spent with her family. She was a Detroit Tiger fan, and enjoyed all Mendon School sports. Wava was a strong, independent woman who felt free to offer advice to her family. She was kind and generous, and would help anyone in need.

Wava is survived by four children, Linda Radloff of Mendon, Ronald Heath of Cassopolis, Donald Heath of Mendon, and Terry (Jo) Heath of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, John (Kerry) Yurkovich, Stacey (David) Lash, Meghan (Travis) Schmucker all of Mendon and Nathan (Darci) Heath of Vicksburg; three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Bailie, and Gaven. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; daughter, Janice Searer; two sisters, Virginia Disbro and Mary Stofflet; and by a brother, David Purdy.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be at 11 am Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Clint Zehr officiating. Burial will be in Leonidas Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to either the Mendon Girls Athletic Program, or to Special Olympics of Michigan.
