Centreville baseball moves on to semi-finals

A local high school baseball team will return to the state semi-finals Friday and try once again to bring home a state championship this weekend.
The Centreville High School varsity squad Tuesday won its quarter-final contest against Concord, 4-3, in extra innings in Battle Creek. The Bulldogs, who sport a 28-3 record, will square off against Sterling Heights Parkway Christian at 9 a.m. on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing.
The winner of that game will play at 2:30 p.m. Saturday also at MSU against the victor of the Gaylord St. Mary-Portland St Patrick’s contest.
Centreville was a one-loss squad a year ago when it was defeated by Muskegon Catholic Central in the Division 4 state championship game.
