Dolly Mae Meyer, age 68, of Colon, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 6, 2016, at her home.
Dolly was born April 13, 1948, in Woodburn, Ind., a daughter of Thomas and Pauline (Clevenger) Beemer.
She graduated from Quincy High School in 1966 and then continued her education at cosmetology school in Battle Creek.
On June 10, 1967, she married Raymond Meyer. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Since 1982, Dolly had made her home in Colon, where she owned and operated Dolly’s Beauty Boutique. She had attended Sherwood Crossroads Bible Church, and enjoyed bowling and attending local high school basketball games.
She is survived by her mother, Pauline Beemer, of Colon; five children, Raylene Logan of Plainwell, Russell (Tracy) Meyer of Sherwood, Rebecca (Brian) Taflinger of Centreville, Raymond James (R.J.) (Brandi) Meyer of Otsego and Rodell Meyer of Orlando, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; three brothers, Rex and Text Beemer, both of Washington, and Robert Beemer of Quincy; a sister, Rita Harvey of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Raymond Meyer; her father, Thomas Beemer; and a brother, Charles Beemer.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Dolly Mae Meyer will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Sherwood Crossroads Bible Church, with Dr. Bruce Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Matteson Cemetery.
If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Dolly to Crossroads Bible Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
