Pastor Elbert L. Foster, born Sept. 25, 1964 to Jessie L. Kelly and Raymond Banks, Jr., departed this life after a long and courageous battle with sickle cell anemia on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center.
Pastor Elbert Foster joined Ambassadors for Christ Church in 1992 under the Leadership of Apostle Joseph L. Stanford, became a licensed Deacon and in 2004, accepted the call to Pastor the AFC Church. Pastor Foster loved teaching and preaching the Word of God.
He was a City Commissioner for 10 years, member of TRAFC, owner of Elbert’s Headquarters.
Elbert leaves to cherish a loving companion of 29 plus years, Lolita Foster of Three Rivers. Sons, Raymond (Antelene) Foster of Kalamazoo and Alexander Foster of Three Rivers. Brothers, Henry Wilson of Stone Mountain, Ga., Kent Wilson of Denver, Colo. and Raymond Banks III of Greenwood, Miss. Sisters, Samantha Wilson of Denver, Colo.; Sabrina Spain of Benton Harbor, Tina Fielder of Jackson, Miss. and Nikki Prayer of Greenwood, Miss. Grandchildren, Anthony Longstreet, Serenity (his baby girl) Foster, and Arye (little momma) Foster. His father, Raymond Banks, Jr. of Greenwood, Miss. His mother, Jessie L. Kelly and step-father, Willie Kelly, preceded him in death. Although Elbert has left this life, his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. June 3, and 10 a.m. June 4 at Bethel Baptist Church, 17852 S. River Road, Three Rivers. Services will begin at 11 a.m. June 4.
